From Coil to Doormat

From one long piece of natural manila rope we create our Seven Seas door mat. We pass the rope around and through the seven times. Then we hand sew the outer passes with waxed twine using a sailmaker’s palm. The stitches keep the mat neat and shipshape.

Falmouth, Our Home Port.

One of our favourite views from the post run, when the weather is fine. The name of this body of water is Carrick Roads, which is the name sailors gave to the Carrick Knot, maybe as a reminder of home. This rope basket is formed from a Carrick Mat Knot.

 Our Latest Timepiece

Our latest creation, a Nautical Rope Clock. It is finished off with a turks head knot to make it even more seaman-like. An all jute creation so it is Natural, Nautical and Knotted.

We do two sizes of Nautical Rope  Dog Leads now with solid brass catches.

We love our new solid brass dog catches. They make our dog leads look even more nautical.

Sewing the passes together.

We sew the outer passes together, it keeps the mat neat and ‘shipshape’.
There are seven passes so we named it ‘The Seven Seas Mat’.

Necessity  is the mother of invention.

Thought it would be great to make a little basket to hold garlic, here is the result! Complete with hanging loop. Love having new ideas.
